The smell of redwood is vaguely reminiscent of cinnamon. The taste is sharply bitter, cedar-like and mildly astringent.

Verwendung
The redwood is used for seasoning and as a natural colorant (e.g. from canned fish) as well as an ingredient in liqueur, for pudding powder and confectionery. However, it is of little importance today.
