Gewürz
The mature, dried seeds are used whole or ground as seasoning.
-
Geruch/Geschmack
The whole seeds have almost no smell; however, they develop an aroma when ground or chewed that is vaguely reminiscent of oregano. The taste of black cumin is aromatic, peppery and slightly bitter.
-
Verwendung
The black cumin has practically the same status as caraway in the cultivation bit. To enhance the aroma, the seeds are often roasted in the pan (without fat). Crushed black cumin is also used for baked goods (naan bread), sweets, curd cheese, cheese, sauces and soups.
