Optimum procurement of our spices, herbs and aromas is at the forefront of our mind from the time that we begin to evaluate producers; every partnership that we enter into must be sustainable, transparent and one of mutual trust.
The procurement of spices and herbs is not the result of the current globalisation; in actual fact, it started around 500 years ago. Similarly, the spice trade has not become a global one for economic reasons, but simply because it is the nature of things in the truest sense of the word. We procure our spices where they are cultivated and thrive in the best natural conditions – in their region of origin.
We firmly believe that the more transparent our knowledge of our delivery chain is, the easier it is to achieve our goals with regard to quality, delivery reliability, longevity and sustainability. For this reason, we purchase as near as possible to the growers. When we are convinced of their commitment and their expertise, we enter into mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with them.
Many of our raw materials are grown in third-world or emerging countries, in which regulations such as employment law, occupational safety or compulsory schooling that we take as a matter of course often do not exist. To improve the situation, we obtain an overview of the conditions on-site and encourage our suppliers to undergo a voluntary social audit. Sustainable products are also an integral part of our offer.
